BAUW Power of the Purse Initiative and Luncheon Champions Women in Our community
BAUW Power of the Purse Initiative and Luncheon Champions Women in Our community.
On March 1st 150 women gathered to celebrate the power of women in our community. At what has become a spring signature event, Barrington Area United Way celebrated its 7th Annual Power of the Purse Initiative and Luncheon at the Onion Pub of Lake Barrington. Women gathered to support the initiative’s mission of women empowering women, with this year’s Power of the Purse grant awarded to the Healthy Relationship and Trauma Informed Clinical Services program at Barrington Youth and Family Services. This program offers a continuum of services for women who find themselves in abusive relationships.
BAUW Board President, DeeDee Johnson, welcomed guests and introduced the afternoon events which included an exciting auction of designer and local retail handbags and gift packages, a stunning Impact Raffle necklace provided by Long & Co. Jewelers and a Wall of Wallets Raffle staffed by notable male celebs of the community. Joining us to model the Impact Raffle necklace was DeeDee’s daughter, Jacey Johnson, Miss Teen Illinois International.
100% of funds donated to BAUW stay local to meet Barrington community needs. The money raised here stays here.
